Brown chemical waste liquid electrolytic copper recovery system, also known as the process of extracting copper from brown chemical waste liquid. Brown chemical waste liquid usually contains high metallic copper, a large amount of difficult-to-separate high chemical oxygen demand (COD), and about 20% sulfuric acid, so it is necessary to find an effective solution for browning waste liquid treatment.

Brown chemical waste liquid mainly has stripping, oxidation and electrolysis steps. After pretreatment, browning waste liquid can be directly electrolyzed to obtain electrolytic copper, so that the copper resources of browning waste liquid can be effectively utilized. It is commonly used to recover copper by electrolysis and adsorption from brown wastewater generated in the printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing industry.

For brown chemical waste liquid, the traditional treatment method is to add chemical agents for precipitation, which has high operating costs and low added value. Generally, electrolysis is more effective in treating brown chemical waste liquid. Since brown chemical waste liquid contains a large amount of corrosion inhibitors and is easy to form a film, it is very easy to form a film on the cathode surface during electrolysis, which increases resistance, increases energy consumption and hinders copper deposition on the cathode surface. In addition, a large amount of copper ions in brown chemical waste liquid exist in complex form, making it impossible to electrolyze directly.

Working principle

The system mainly includes filtration and pretreatment, complex breaking, oxygen breaking, electrolysis, and adsorption steps. First, by pre-treating the brown chemical waste liquid, copper can be directly electrolyzed after pretreatment. In its electrolysis device, the current drives the ions in the contaminated wastewater to the cathode made of conductive material. When these ions are reduced on the cathode, they form high-purity metallic copper, which can be efficiently harvested. The pretreatment agent breaks the effect of organic matter on copper ions by oxidation or adsorption. By absorbing organic matter, the conductivity after filtration can be improved, which is beneficial for the recovery of copper by electrolysis. The resin can absorb the remaining copper ions after electrolysis, further improving the copper recovery rate.
