40TPH Tantalum-Niobium Ore Beneficiation Plant
This is a complete 40 tph alluvial & rock mixed tantalum-niobium beneficiation plant, designed by JXSC for a client in the Congo, with a raw ore feed size of ≤120 mm. The plant employs a combined process flow, comprising ore washing and pre-concentration, crushing and grinding, gravity separation, and magnetic separation—to produce multiple concentrate products, thereby achieving efficient recovery and comprehensive utilization of tantalum and niobium resources.
Alluvial Ta-Nb Beneficiation Flow
- Run-of-mine ore (≤120 mm) enters the trommel scrubber for washing and desliming, separating the stones. It is equipped with a double-layer screen (apertures of 2 mm and 25 mm). Rocks larger than 25 mm are discharged and conveyed to the side.
- Material smaller than 2 mm enters a centrifugal concentrator to produce Concentrate 1.
- Material sized between 2 mm and 25 mm enters a jig separator (with a 2 mm screen aperture) to produce Concentrate 2.
- Tailings from the centrifugal concentrator enter a sluice box for further recovery, producing Concentrate 3.
- The jig undersize (0–2 mm) and sluice tailings are combined and fed into a spiral sand washer for dewatering, then transported out via belt conveyor.
- The spiral sand washer overflow enters a settling pond, while tailings are discharged to the tailings storage facility.
Hard-Rock Ta-Nb Beneficiation Flow
- Oversized material (2–25 mm) from the jig separator is conveyed to a hammer crusher and crushed to a size below 5 mm.
- Subsequently, it enters a ball mill and is ground to a particle size of 0–1 mm.
- The 0–1 mm material is fed onto a shaking table for separation to recover Concentrate 4.
The concentrate is first dried and then fed into a three-disc magnetic separator to separate iron, non-magnetic minerals, and the final tantalum-niobium concentrate.
The successful operation of the 40TPH tantalum-niobium ore beneficiation plant in the Congo in this case study verifies the high efficiency and applicability of the combined “washing-crushing-gravity separation-magnetic separation” process for alluvial & rock mixed Ta-Nb ore. From raw ore intake to the production of multiple product streams, equipment selection at every stage was precisely tailored to the specific characteristics of the ore.
Tantalum-niobium ores come in various forms—such as pegmatite, placer, and weathered crust deposits—each with distinct mineral dissemination sizes and associated components. Consequently, processing solutions must be customized to the specific ore type. JXSC welcomes you to contact us for a complete tantalum-niobium dressing solution from process design to equipment supply, achieving optimal recovery rate and economic benefits.

Highlight Of JXSC Design 40TPH Tantalum-Niobium Ore Beneficiation Plant
√ Ore Washing & Pre-concentration: A rotary scrubber performs initial desliming and impurity removal, reducing the risk of wear and clogging in downstream equipment.
√ High Recovery Rate: A combination of gravity separation (jig separator, centrifugal concentrators, sluices, and shaking tables) and magnetic separation ensures maximum recovery of tantalum-niobium minerals.
√ Graded Separation: Produces four types of concentrates and various by-products; graded sales maximize overall economic returns.
√ Eco-friendly Tailings Management: Physical separation eliminates chemical reagent pollution; settling ponds enable tailings water recycling, meeting “green mine” standards.
√Quality Enhancement via Magnetic Separation: A three-disc magnetic separator efficiently separates magnetic minerals, upgrading the tantalum-niobium concentrate grade.
